After Belarus' State Border Committee reported that it was seeing an increase in the number of Ukrainian troops on the border, Ukraine’s border guards have emphasised that the defence forces are protecting sovereign territory from the aggressor and there is no provocation in doing so.

Quote from the Belarusian Border Committee: "Recently, there has been an increase in the number of Ukrainian armed formations, particularly special operations forces and special units of Ukraine's Defence Intelligence, in the area of responsibility of the Zhytomyr Border Detachment of Ukraine's State Border Guard Service.

Several units are clustered in the adjacent territory, including some with heavy weapons: multi-purpose tracked vehicles, IFVs, including American Bradleys, HIMARS multiple-launch rocket systems, M777 howitzers, German-made Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns, and other means of destruction.

Belarus' border service is operating in an enhanced mode on the border with Ukraine."

Details: The Belarusian border service issued a warning that "all provocations on the border must be immediately stopped".

Quote from Demchenko: "It’s good that Belarus' Border Committee is aware that Ukraine is protecting and defending its territory from enemy attacks. And this is being enforced by various units of Ukraine's defence forces, using all the weapons available.

In addition, our country is building more defensive fortifications along its border with Belarus. There is no provocation here. Unlike Belarus, which, despite all assurances, has supported the terrorist country in a totally unprovoked war, and on 24 February 2022 committed the most serious provocation by enabling Russian forces to enter Ukraine from its territory.

As a result, for as long as Belarus goes along with the Kremlin's criminal activities, this area will remain threatening to us, and we will do everything we can to enhance the country's defences. The Ukrainian army is well-versed in dealing with invaders that arrive on our soil. The statement by Belarus' Border Committee warning against provocations on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border is astonishing. It would be preferable if they averted their own provocation in the first place."
