Ukrainian soldier downs Russian missile heading for Kyiv Oblast using machine gun – photos
A soldier from the Ukrainian Air Force known as Serhii, alias Doctor Mom, shot down a Russian cruise missile heading for Kyiv Oblast using a machine gun on the morning of 12 June.

Quote from Serhii: "We received an order to get ready and I immediately headed out to the position together with my fellow soldiers. They told us over the radio that our target was close. Seconds later, we saw an enemy missile heading towards Vasylkiv.
Without any hesitation, I took my machine gun and opened fire. I had one thought – I have to hit the target! After I fired from the machine gun, I saw the missile starting to veer off course and descend."
Details: The Air Force pointed out that it is extremely difficult to shoot down a missile with a machine gun.
In civilian life, Serhii was a doctor. He is now on combat duty in a mobile firing unit.
Reportedly, the soldier only believed that he had indeed downed a Russian missile with a machine gun when he saw the debris with his own eyes.
