Russian air attack on 20 June: Ukraine's air defence destroys 5 out of 9 missiles and all 27 Shahed drones
Russia has launched another combined air strike on Ukraine on the night of 19-20 June. Ukraine's air defence systems have destroyed 5 out of the 9 Russian missiles launched and all the kamikaze drones.

Details: The Russians conducted missile strikes and airstrikes on Ukraine, deploying air- and ground-launched missiles and Shahed kamikaze drones.
In total, the Russians used 9 missiles of various types and 27 strike UAVs, namely:
- 4 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles from Tu-95MS strategic aircraft (from the airspace over the Caspian Sea)
- 3 Iskander-M ballistic missiles (from temporarily occupied Crimea and Russia’s Voronezh Krai)
- 2 Kh-59 guided missiles (from the airspace over the Sea of Azov)
- 27 Shahed-131/136 attack UAVs (from Russia’s Primorsko-Akhtarsk)
The Russians targeted critical infrastructure facilities, primarily focusing on Ukraine’s east, including Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
Fighter aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare units of the Air Force and mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s defence forces were involved in repelling the Russian air attack.
As a result of combat efforts, 32 aerial targets were downed:
- 4 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles
- 1 Kh-59 guided missile
- 27 Shahed-131/136 attack UAVs
Oleshchuk noted that the air defence systems were responding in Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Poltava and Vinnytsia oblasts.
