Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, has stressed that Ukraine has never called China an enemy but would like it to be a friend.

Quote: "Ukraine has never said that China is our enemy. And I’m asking you not to say such things. I always say that Ukraine’s number one enemy is Putin because it was he who attacked us. Speaking about friends, I believe that friends are those who help during hard times. And I would like China to become Ukraine’s friend."

Details: Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine had always respected the territorial integrity and sovereignty of China, and it would like China to respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.

"We respect your people, your values, life and your choice and we would like China to do the same, not more. Hopefully, not less either. China is a very serious state, a serious economy which has a political and economic influence on Russia. I think China could help us. So I would like the propositions the Chinese side has to be present in our dialogue. I cannot accept proposals via the media, it is wrong," Zelenskyy added.

He noted that the Russian ruler Vladimir Putin "through disinformation or no matter how else, did everything so that the representatives of [...] China worked with the diplomatic institutions of other countries to persuade them to skip (the Peace Summit – ed.) and stop their support for Ukraine, and side with the Chinese-Brazilian propositions instead".
