US permission for strikes on Russia reduced attacks on Kharkiv – Kharkiv Mayor
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said that the destruction of Russian strike positions near the Russian-Ukrainian border by the Ukrainian military helped reduce the intensity of Russian attacks on the city.

Details: Asked whether Kharkiv has in any way benefited from the US granting limited permission for US weapons to strike targets in Russia, Terekhov says the attacks have become less intense than in May.
Quote: "This has helped. That, perhaps, is why Kharkiv enjoys this period of calm for the last couple of weeks […] the strikes were less intense than, for example, in May".
Details: He added that about 11,500 people have arrived in Kharkiv from other heavily bombarded areas. In addition, the mayor stressed the significant need for Western air defence systems to protect the city.
