Ukrainian government backs draft presidential decree creating Unmanned Systems Forces within Armed Forces

Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers has backed a draft decree to be signed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that will create a separate branch within the Armed Forces of Ukraine – the Unmanned Systems Forces. The decree was jointly drafted by the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff.

Quote: "Today the Cabinet of Ministers supported the draft Decree of the President of Ukraine, composed by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine jointly with the General Staff of Ukraine, on the creation of a separate branch of the Armed Forces of Ukraine – the Unmanned Systems Forces.

This is a strategic step [forward] for our country in the face of the growing threat from Russia."

Details: Umierov added that the Unmanned Systems Forces represent a modern and essential solution to make effective use of combat potential and achieve technological superiority over Russian troops.

The Ministry of Defence will prepare a corresponding draft law and submit it to the government for consideration so that this initiative can go ahead.

Background: President Zelenskyy instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to set up the Unmanned Systems Forces as a new service branch within the Armed Forces of Ukraine on 6 February.
