Ukraine's Defence Minister announces allocation of additional US$9.1 billion for weapons procurement
Ukraine’s Defence Minister Rustem Umierov has announced the Cabinet of Ministers' (Ukrainian government) decision to allocate an additional UAH 370 billion (approx. US$9.1 billion) for weapons purchases.

Quote: "We are continually working in front-line locations alongside Oleksandr Syrskyi, Ukraine's Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. Communicating on the ground with brigade commanders allows us to better understand our military's demands, which we attempt to address as soon as possible.
We are looking into new ways to help our defence sector firms meet the logistical needs of the troops and ensure the timely shipment of vital weaponry. Currently, we are working on the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers to spend an additional UAH 370 billion for the procurement of weapons," the minister said.
Background:
- The Cabinet of Ministers allocated UAH 749.7 million (about US$18.9 million) from the reserve fund of the state budget to Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence.
- The state budget's general fund for the security and defence industry for January-March 2024 totaled UAH 408.2 billion (US$10.07 billion).
