Estonian president on sending troops to Ukraine: Kyiv doesn't see the need yet

Estonian President Alar Karis commented on the statements made by French President Emmanuel Macron regarding the potential possibility of sending Western troops to Ukraine.

Regarding the issue of sending soldiers to Ukraine, he noted: "This is not my decision, nor even the decision of the government. The parliament will make the decision about the deployment of troops."

"If this moment ever comes, then the discussion about sending troops will have to be held not so much within Estonia, but with our allies. However, Ukraine itself does not see the necessity for this at the moment," Karis explained.

• It is known that the discussion regarding NATO troops on Ukrainian territory was initiated by French President Emmanuel Macron, who admitted in February that he had proposed Western countries send their troops to Ukraine.
• According to media reports, European governments and Brussels are considering the possibility of beginning training Ukrainian soldiers on Ukrainian territory no later than the beginning of 2025.
• Meanwhile, Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas stated that some countries have already sent their instructors to Ukraine.
