Twice first in history: Ukrainian mountaineer sets 2 records in 1 day – photo
Ukrainian mountaineer Antonina Samoilova has become the first Ukrainian woman to climb two eight-thousanders in one day.

At dawn on 22 May, Samoilova ascended Everest, and by 06:00 on the 23rd, she also conquered Lhotse. Additionally, Antonina became the first Ukrainian woman in history to summit Everest three times.

She climbed the world's highest mountain to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. She carried with her a photo of a person who made a donation to support the Ukrainian Hospitallers volunteer medical battalion. All interested parties participated in the drawing, and the winner was selected randomly.
Furthermore, Samoilova was the only person from Ukraine to bring the flag to Everest in 2022. At that time, the mountaineer climbed with the slogan "Stand with Ukraine".
In 2023, she made a historic video – the world's first drone footage on the summit of Everest with the Ukrainian flag. This video gained millions of views and instantly spread across Ukrainian and international media, once again reminding the world of the war in Ukraine.
