A road bridge collapsed in Russian Smolensk Oblast on 8 April. Two cars were on it at the time of the collapse. Reportedly, five people were injured and a woman died.

Details: The collapse of the Paninsky road bridge, which connected the centre of the city of Vyazma with an industrial area, has been reported by the Russian media. The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia stated that five people were injured and a woman died. The road bridge collapsed right onto the railway tracks, and train traffic was halted.

A passenger car and a lorry were on the bridge at the moment of the collapse.
One of the possible reasons for the collapse may be movement of soil. The media also reports that the bridge should have been inspected in March 2023, but the inspection has not been conducted.
