Hungarian Foreign Minister reports on meeting with Ukrainian counterpart in Brussels

Peter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, has disclosed the content of the negotiations with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba held on the sidelines of the NATO ministers’ meeting in Brussels.

Details: Szijjártó stated that over the past few weeks "further steps towards restoring mutual trust" in the relations between Hungary and Ukraine were taken and noted the progress in changing the agreement on border traffic control, which should accelerate the crossing of the border.

He added that he expects the meeting of the Ukrainian-Hungarian workgroup, planned for 4 April and dedicated to the law on education, "with hope", stating that it is very important for Hungary "to restore the rights of the Hungarian minority in Zakarpattia".

Szijjártó also stated that the development of infrastructure on the border will allow about a million containers with three million tonnes of wheat and oil to cross the border, which will facilitate Ukraine’s trade with Europe.
