Russia hopes to repair all damaged oil refineries by end of spring

Russia plans to repair the damaged oil refineries by early June.

"Repairs at the refineries are ongoing. We are planning to bring a number of refineries out of repair in April-May, possibly by early June. All facilities that were damaged will be put back into operation," Shulginov said.

Background:

• The attacks by Ukrainian drones on the Russian oil and gas industry were made possible by increasing the flight range and using AI to recognise terrain and targets. At the same time, such drones are fully autonomous and do not require satellite communications.
• The authorities of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation reported a drone attack on facilities in Yelabuga and Nizhnekamsk, which resulted in an explosion and injured people; it was reported earlier that Russian Shahed attack drones were being assembled in Yelabuga.
• Sources said that, as a result of a joint special operation by Ukrainian intelligence and the Security Service of Ukraine, a primary oil refining unit at a refinery in Nizhnekamsk, Russia, was hit.
• The Astrakhan gas processing plant, owned by Gazprom, had emergency shut down production of petroleum products after repairs the day before.
