Despite continuous Russian attacks, 875 people remain in Chasovyi Yar, Donetsk Oblast
A total of 875 residents remain in Chasovyi Yar, Donetsk Oblast – predominantly elderly people, who are reluctant to evacuate despite the city being under constant Russian fire.

Quote: "Currently, 875 people remain in the hromada. We have evacuated some people, but I can't say it's a significant flow. People still stay in their flats and houses. [A hromada is an administrative unit designating a town, village or several villages and their adjacent territories – ed.]
As you can see, there are still a lot of people here. We are trying to persuade them [to evacuate – ed.]. Yesterday, we organised an online meeting with one of the shelters in the centre of Ukraine, showing people who have already left, and all the services they receive."
Details: Chaus said that local authorities are trying to convince people that evacuation saves lives.
However, many residents are not ready to leave even despite attacks and lack of electricity, water, and gas.
Quote: "The majority are people of retirement age, well beyond 60. To say they don't know where to go is not entirely accurate. They don't understand where in society they would fit afterwards.
Here they are at home. Yes, there's constant danger. Yes, there are constant attacks. Yes, there's a lack of electricity, water, and gas. But they are at home. That's their main narrative. They say they are home, and they have nowhere to go. The constant attacks that never stop; there is simply no peace in the city anymore.
There are some moments of calm, but only nominally. Every day, there's artillery, aircraft, and mortars. With each passing day, it gets more and more difficult. Regarding the humanitarian situation, we keep working. Residents receive humanitarian aid – water distribution, minimal supplies that can be provided in all the fighting, we do [everything we can], despite the risks and the difficult situation."
