Next Ramstein-format meeting to be held in March

The next 20th meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (Ramstein format) will take place on 19 March at Ramstein Air Base in Germany.

Details: "US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin plans to hold a face-to-face meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, on 19 March 2024," the statement said.

The US Air Force noted that Austin has again invited defence ministers and senior military officials from around the world to "discuss the crisis in Ukraine" and various security challenges facing US allies and partners.

Background:

• Oleksandr Syrskyi, the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, attended the previous, 19th meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group on 14 February for the first time.
• The Ramstein-format meeting formalised the drone coalition and announced the list of its members. It plans to provide Ukraine with one million drones.
• In addition, NATO and Ukraine are reportedly setting up a joint training centre in Poland.
