Russian and Ukrainian forces clashed 64 times over day, 27 faceoffs on Novopavlivka front alone – General Staff report
Russian forces clashed with Ukrainian forces 64 times on Saturday, 23 March, with the largest number of Russian assaults – 27 – taking place on the Novopavlivka front.

Details: Over the course of the day, Ukraine’s defence forces clashed with Russian forces 64 times. Russian forces carried out 6 missile strikes and 70 airstrikes. They also deployed multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS) 72 times to attack the positions of Ukrainian troops and civilian settlements.
There were no significant changes on the Volyn and Polissia fronts.
On the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna fronts, Russian forces carried out airstrikes in the vicinity of Seredyna-Buda and Vorozhba (Sumy Oblast) and Zemlianky, Potykhonove and Bolohivka (Kharkiv Oblast). Over 15 Ukrainian civilian settlements came under Russian mortar and artillery fire, including Huta-Studenetska, Bleshnia and Karpovychi (Chernihiv Oblast); Bilopillia, Kindrativka and Zapsillia (Sumy Oblast); and Kozacha Lopan, Vovchansk, Krasne and Neskuchne (Kharkiv Oblast).
Russian forces did not undertake assault operations on the Kupiansk front, but they conducted an airstrike in the vicinity of Kyslivka (Kharkiv Oblast) and deployed mortars and artillery to attack more than 10 settlements, including Holubivka, Dvorichna and Synkivka (Kharkiv Oblast).
Ukrainian forces repelled 6 Russian assaults in the vicinity of Bilohorivka (Luhansk Oblast) and Terny, Yampolivka, Rozdolivka and Vesele (Donetsk Oblast) on the Lyman front, where aircraft-supported Russian forces attempted to break through the Ukrainian defences. Russian forces also deployed mortars and artillery to attack more than 10 civilian settlements, including Makiivka and Nevske (Luhansk Oblast) and Torske and Serebrianka (Donetsk Oblast).
On the Bakhmut front, Ukrainian forces repelled 11 Russian assaults near Klishchiivka, Bohdanivka and Ivanivske (Donetsk Oblast). Russian forces carried out airstrikes in the vicinity of Chasiv Yar, Dachne and Druzhba (Donetsk Oblast). Around 10 civilian settlements, including Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Andriivka and Klishchiivka (Donetsk Oblast), came under Russian mortar and artillery fire.
Ukrainian forces also repelled 9 Russian assaults near Berdychi, Tonenke and Pervomaiske (Donetsk Oblast) on the Avdiivka front, where the Russians carried out airstrikes in the vicinity of Umanske and Semenivka (Donetsk Oblast). Russian forces also deployed artillery and mortars to attack around 20 civilian settlements, including Novobakhmutivka, Berdychi, Semenivka, Pervomaiske and Nevelske (Donetsk Oblast).
On the Novopavlivka front, Ukraine’s defence forces are continuing to hold the Russians back near Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka, Kostiantynivka and Urozhaine (Donetsk Oblast), where aircraft-supported Russian forces made 27 attempts to break through the Ukrainian defences. Russian aircraft struck areas in the vicinity of Vuhledar (Donetsk Oblast). Around 15 civilian settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka and Paraskoviivka (Donetsk Oblast), came under Russian mortar and artillery fire.
On the Orikhiv front, aircraft-supported Russian forces assaulted Ukrainian positions in the vicinity of Robotyne (Zaporizhzhia Oblast) 3 times. Russian aircraft struck areas in the vicinity of Staromaiorske (Donetsk Oblast) and Malynivka and Stepove (Zaporizhzhia Oblast). Around 15 civilian settlements, including Poltavka, Malynivka, Charivne, Bilohiria, Novodanylivka and Piatykhatky (Zaporizhzhia Oblast), came under Russian artillery and mortar fire.
On the Kherson front, Russian forces carried out an assault on the positions of the Ukrainian forces near Krynky (Kherson Oblast) and conducted an airstrike near Tokarivka (Kherson Oblast). More than 10 civilian settlements, including Burhunka, Tiahynka, Kizomys, Stanislav and Kherson (Kherson Oblast), came under Russian artillery fire.
Over the course of 23 March, Ukrainian aircraft carried out airstrikes on 8 clusters of Russian military personnel, weapons and equipment.
