Borrell in Washington says fresh aid for Ukraine can't wait
Josep Borrell, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, has said after meetings in Washington on 14 March that further support for Ukraine must not be delayed, given the likelihood of another Russian offensive.

Details: The EU's top diplomat told journalists he had conveyed a simple message to US politicians: "Whatever has to be done, it has to be done quickly."
"It's true for us. We have to speed up. We have to increase our support, to do more and quicker. That's why we are increasing our industrial defence capacities. And it is also true for the US," Borrell said.
He added that "the next few months will be decisive" for the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
"Many analysts expect a major Russian offensive this summer, and Ukraine cannot wait until the result of the next US elections," the top EU diplomat said.
Mike Johnson, Speaker of the US House of Representatives, has refused to schedule a vote on a bill that would provide Ukraine with an additional US$60 billion in aid.
He has promised to prepare his own draft to support Ukraine, which may offer support in the form of a loan or lend-lease to protect American taxpayers' interests. The White House has rejected this idea.
