Blockade of Polish-Ukrainian border: farmers agree to let lorries pass to Ukraine at one of the checkpoints

Polish farmers near the Dorohusk checkpoint have decided to let the lorries heading to Ukraine pass through the Yahodyn checkpoint, but they will not halt their blockade of vehicles leaving Ukraine.

Details: Wojciech Los, the leader of the protest, called it a "gesture" in favour of Ukrainian drivers "so that they can come back to their families".

He noted that farmers have been blocking the Polish-Ukrainian border for 35 days.

"Nobody turns to us, but we have reached an agreement with the head of the Dorohusk municipality and the drivers to be humane and let them go home," he said.

When asked how long the checkpoint would be open for, Los responded that "we are just opening the border but do not know when exactly so far".

At the same time, he noted that the protesters will remain near the border crossing in Dorohusk.

"We are letting Ukrainian drivers out of Poland, but the blockade of trucks heading from Ukraine to Poland will constantly be ongoing," Los added.

A representative of the Chelm city police reported that the queue to the Dorohusk crossing is 8 km long, consisting of 300 lorries. They have to wait for about 70 hours to pass.

At the moment, the protesters are letting two lorries per hour pass towards Ukraine.
