Russian forces attempt to break through Ukrainian defence on Marinka front 21 times – General Staff
Ukrainian and Russian forces clashed 63 times on the front line on Saturday (17 February), with Russian troops attempting to break through the Ukrainian defences 21 times on the Marinka front.

Details: A total of 63 combat engagements occurred over the past 24 hours. The Russians launched a total of 4 missile strikes and 61 airstrikes and attacked Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas with multiple launch rocket systems 79 times.
There were no significant changes on the Volyn and Polissia fronts.
On the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna fronts, the Russians launched airstrikes near the settlements of Stohnii, Chorne, and Sadovod (Kharkiv Oblast). Russian artillery and mortars struck over 20 settlements, including Karpovychi and Leonivka (Chernihiv Oblast); Seredyna-Buda, Vilna Sloboda, Holyshivske, Veselivka, Mohrytsia, Mykhailivske, and Yizdetske (Sumy Oblast); Huriv Kozachok, Veterynarne, Vovchanski Khutory, Bochkove, Kruhle, and Ozerne (Kharkiv Oblast).
On the Kupiansk front, the Russian army undertook no offensive actions. They delivered airstrikes near the settlements of Synkivka, Petropavlivka and Kupiansk (Kharkiv Oblast). About 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, and Berestove (Kharkiv Oblast).
On the Lyman front, Ukrainian soldiers repelled 7 Russian attacks near the settlements of Bilohorivka (Luhansk Oblast) and Terny and Yampolivka (Donetsk Oblast), where the Russian army, supported by aircraft, attempted to break through Ukrainian troops' defences. The Russians also carried out airstrikes near the settlement of Makiivka and Serebrianka Forest (Luhansk Oblast). Russian artillery and mortars targeted over 10 populated areas, including Nevske and Bilohorivka (Luhansk Oblast), Terny, Torske, Serebrianka, Verkhnokamianske, and Rozdolivka (Donetsk Oblast).
On the Bakhmut front, Ukrainian Defence Forces repelled 7 Russian attacks near the settlements of Ivanivske, Klishchiivka and Andriivka (Donetsk Oblast), where the Russians, supported by aircraft, attempted to improve their tactical positions. About 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Vasiukivka, Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, and New-York (Donetsk Oblast).
On the Avdiivka front, Ukrainian defenders repelled 14 Russian attacks near Lastochkyne (Donetsk Oblast). The Russian army also launched an airstrike near Orlivka (Donetsk Oblast). Russian artillery and mortars targeted over 20 settlements, including Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Lastochkyne, and Nevelske (Donetsk Oblast).
On the Marinka front, Ukrainian Defence Forces are continuing to hold back Russian troops near Heorhiivka, Pobieda and Novomykhailivka (Donetsk Oblast). In this area, the Russians, supported by aircraft, made 21 attempts to break through the Ukrainian defences. Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka, Paraskoviivka, Kostiantynivka came under Russian artillery and mortar fire.
On the Novopavlivka front, Ukrainian defenders repelled two Russian attacks south of the settlement of Prechystivka and west of the village of Staromaiorske (Donetsk Oblast), where the Russians, supported by aircraft, sought to improve their tactical position. Russian troops also delivered an airstrike near the settlement of Vuhledar (Donetsk Oblast). About 10 populated localities came under artillery and mortar fire, including Vodiane, Zolota Nyva, Staromaiorske, and Rivnopil (Donetsk Oblast).
On the Zaporizhzhia front, Ukrainian Defence Forces repelled four Russian attacks west of the settlements of Verbove and Robotyne (Zaporizhzhia Oblast). The Russians also launched an airstrike near the village of Novodarivka (Zaporizhzhia Oblast). Over 20 settlements came under Russian artillery and mortar fire, including Levadne, Malynivka, Zaliznychne, Charivne, Novoandriivka, and Lobkove (Zaporizhzhia Oblast).
In the area of responsibility of the Odesa Operational Strategic Group of Forces on the Kherson front, the Russians persist in their intention to drive Ukrainian troops from their footholds on the Dnipro River's left bank. Two attempts to storm the positions of Ukrainian forces were made over the past 24 hours. Russian artillery and mortars targeted the settlements of Beryslav, Antonivka, Sofiivka (Kherson Oblast) and Ochakiv (Mykolaiv Oblast). The Russians also targeted the city of Kherson with multiple launch rocket systems.
Ukraine's Air Force struck 14 clusters of Russian military personnel and three anti-aircraft missile systems over the past 24 hours. In addition, the Air Force units destroyed three Russian aircraft on the Eastern front: two Su-34 fighter-bombers and one Su-35 fighter.
Ukraine's Rocket Forces and Artillery targeted one command post, four artillery pieces, four ammunition storage points and one electronic warfare station belonging to the Russians.
