Ukraine's Armed Forces confirm successful strikes on Saky airfield in Crimea – photo
Ukrainian Air Force pilots have destroyed the Russian occupiers' command post in Saky (temporarily occupied Crimea).
Source: Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk
Details: Oleshchuk confirmed the missile strikes on Saky and destruction of the command post located there.
Quote from Oleshchuk: "Saky airfield!
‘All targets are down!’ [mocking Russian news outlets and the Defence Ministry, as they are always saying that their air defence systems downed all targets, even if there are a lot of strikes – ed.]
Unfortunately, our Air Force has lost another command post in Crimea! [Oleshchuk is clearly referring to the Russian and not the Ukrainian Air Force – ed.]
Once again, I thank our pilots for their excellent work!"
Background:
- On the evening of 5 January, various news outlets reported explosions in temporarily occupied Crimea, and the Russians blocked the Crimean Bridge.
- Later, the Russian Ministry of Defence stated that on the night of 5-6 January, their air defence systems shot down four air-launched missiles over occupied Crimea.
