Russian attack on Kyiv on 29 December: Death toll rises to 32

Another two people killed in the Russian attack on Kyiv on 29 December 2023 have been found, with the death toll currently standing at 32.

Quote from KCMA Head Serhii Popko: "Forensic investigators from the Ministry of Internal Affairs discovered two more bodies. As of 07:00 on 4 January, the total number of people killed in the [Russian] missile attack on 29 December is 32, according to the investigation."

Details: Popko said that another 30 people sustained injuries in the Russian attack on 29 December.

Background:

• On the night and morning of 28-29 December, Russia launched a large-scale air attack on Ukraine. Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Odesa, Lviv, Zaporizhzhia and other cities were targeted. 
• One day later, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reported that 39 people were killed and 159 injured in the massive Russian missile strike on 29 December. Death toll continued to rise in the days following the attack as more people were found under the rubble. 
• In total, air defence managed to destroy 114 out of 158 Russian aerial targets over Ukraine. 
• According to the Air Force, the Russian Federation used almost every type of weaponry available at its disposal.
