The number of people killed in the Russian missile attack on Kyiv on 29 December has increased to 30 people, with one more person dying in hospital from their injuries.

Background:
- On the night and morning of 29 December, Russia launched a large-scale air attack on Ukraine. Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Odesa, Lviv, Zaporizhzhia and other cities were targeted.
- In total, air defence managed to destroy 114 out of 158 Russian air targets over Ukraine. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia had used almost all types of weapons at its disposal.
- On the morning of 1 January, rescue workers retrieved five more bodies from under the rubble, meaning that the death toll from the Russian attack on Kyiv on 29 December had risen to 28.
- A Day of Mourning was declared in the capital on 1 January.
