Details: Yastremska faced Nosková for the first time in her career. Prior to this, the 19-year-old Czech player defeated another Ukrainian, Elina Svitolina, who withdrew from the match with a back injury when the score reached 0:3.
Yastremska managed to defeat Nosková in two sets. In the beginning of the first set, the players exchanged breaks and the crucial moment came in the eighth game: Yastremska secured another break and then won the subsequent game.
In the first set, Yastremska continued her aggressive play, which she had demonstrated in previous matches, hitting 11 winners compared to Nosková's four and committing more unforced errors (12-9).
The fate of the second set was determined by a single break, which Yastremska secured at 3:3. Subsequently, Yastremska managed to hold her service games and won the set 6:4.
The Nosková vs. Yastremska match lasted for an hour and 20 minutes. The Ukrainian finished the match with 19 winners and 23 unforced errors, while the Czech had only 6 winners and 21 unforced errors.
The next opponent for Yastremska will be the match winner between neutral player Anna Kalinskaya and Chinese player Qinwen Zheng.
Yastremska's semi-final match is scheduled for Thursday, 25 January, not earlier than 10:30 Kyiv time.
For reference: Yastremska is the first Ukrainian woman in history to reach the Australian Open's semi-finals. Before the 2024 tournament, Elina Svitolina held the best result, reaching the quarter-finals in 2018 and 2019.
Yastremska's semi-final appearance is also a repetition of Ukraine's historical record at all Grand Slam events. Prior to this, only Elina Svitolina had reached the semi-finals three times: at Wimbledon in 2019 and 2023 and at the US Open in 2019.
As of now, Yastremska has risen to the 29th position in the live WTA rankings and has become the third-highest-ranked Ukrainian player.
