Zelenskyy thanked the EPP Group and the European Parliament for their leadership in supporting Ukraine from the very beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion. They also discussed Ukraine’s European integration and security situation in the country.
Weber stressed that Ukraine could count on the EPP representatives’ support at various levels, including in their communications with foreign leaders.
Background:
- Manfred Weber, a German politician, was elected as the leader of the EPP in June 2022, replacing Donald Tusk, who is now serving as Poland’s prime minister.
- Weber is known as Ukraine’s active supporter in the EU. He has openly supported more military aid for Ukraine, calling for Taurus cruise missiles to be supplied to Ukraine, and for Ukraine’s accession to the EU and NATO.
