Russian authorities have begun installing S-300 air defence systems around St. Petersburg, after Ukrainian drones successfully struck military targets in the surrounding Leningrad Oblast.

Details: ASTRA reports that after drones attacked Leningrad Oblast for the first time since the beginning of the war, residents noticed the deployment of the S-300 air defence missile system in the region.

A resident recorded the anti-aircraft missile system on video, with a vehicle carrying one of the systems obstructing a roadway while attempting to manoeuvre.

- On 18 January 2024, drones attacked the St Petersburg Oil Terminal, and on 21 January, the terminal of the Novatek company in the Ust-Luga port was targeted.
- Ukrainska Pravda sources say that Ukrainian intelligence services are behind these attacks.
