EU High Representative comments on Trump's "peace plan"

Josep Borrell, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, has commented on former US President Donald Trump's assertion that if he wins the 2024 elections, he will resolve the war between Ukraine and Russia in 24 hours.

Details: Comparing the intention to put an end to Russia's full-scale aggression to a "miracle", Borrell noted that no one has been able to come up with a "magic formula" to end the war in Ukraine in 24 hours.

"But I've heard President Zelenskyy has invited Trump to visit Kyiv and find a solution quickly. Because the people who want peace the most and strive for an end to the war are, of course, Ukrainians."

"And I would certainly be happy if Trump could offer them a 'magic formula' to end the war in 24 hours," Borrell concluded.

The former US President has previously stated on multiple occasions that he has a "plan" to ensure peace in Ukraine within 24 hours if he returns to the top job. After his victory in the primaries in Iowa earlier this week, Trump repeated his claim that if he wins the election, he would end the war "very quickly".

In November, Zelenskyy suggested Trump visit Ukraine, but Trump declined, citing a "conflict of interests" with the current administration of Joe Biden.
