Germany sends ammunition and drones to Ukraine in new aid package

The German government has updated the list of military aid provided to Ukraine.

Details: The new aid package from Germany includes:

- ammunition for Leopard 1 main battle tanks;
- 25 RQ-35 HEIDRUN reconnaissance drones;
- 8 armoured personnel carriers;
- material for explosive ordnance disposal
- 50 SatCom terminals;
- 5 border protection vehicles;
- 1,840 combat helmets;
- 500 LED lamps;
- 3 vehicles (trucks, minibuses, all-terrain vehicles);
- 16 Zetros tankers.
Background:
- It was reported that Germany would provide Ukraine with military goods worth more than €7 billion in 2024.
- On 4 January, Germany handed over missiles for the IRIS-T SLM anti-air missile systems and Marder infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine in a new aid package.
- In 2023, arms exports from Germany reached a record €12.2 billion. Ukraine was the main recipient of arms from Germany, having imported weapons for €4.44 billion from this country.
