Local authorities claim 7 drones downed over Belgorod Oblast while Russian Defence Ministry claims missiles were intercepted

Air defence systems were responding over the Russian city of Belgorod and its surrounding district on the night of 16-17 January.

Details: Gladkov claimed that seven drones were downed.

Early reports indicate that there were no casualties.

Gladkov also reported damage in the district’s residential area, where windows were smashed, a roof was damaged and an outbuilding caught fire.

A power outage was recorded in one of the settlements.

Meanwhile, the Russian Defence Ministry claimed that they intercepted four drones and seven missiles launched from an Iskander-M ballistic missile system over Belgorod Oblast on 17 January at around 02:40 (Moscow time).

Update: At 05:11, the Russian Defence Ministry reported that the air defence was responding again.

Russian air defence allegedly downed four RM-70 Vampir multiple-launch rocket systems and two drones.
