Head of Pentagon discusses next Ramstein meeting with Ukraine's Defence Minister
The eighteenth meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defence (Ramstein format) will take place via a video link on 23 January.
Source: This was discussed in a telephone conversation between Lloyd Austin, head of Pentagon, and Rustem Umierov, Ukrainian Defence Minister, European Pravda writes.
Details: The parties discussed the latest developments on the battlefield in Ukraine and "the upcoming virtual meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defence on 23 January," Brigadier General Patrick Ryder, Pentagon spokesman, said on 16 January.
Quote: "Secretary Austin reiterated that the United States and our coalition of approximately 50 allies and partners remain committed to supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression," he added.
The last meeting in the Ramstein format took place in November 2023, also via a video link.
It was followed by creation of a number of new coalitions to support Ukraine's defence capabilities, including the development of air defence, drones, as well as the navy and the air force.
In addition, Estonia said it had prepared a three-year strategy plan for Western countries for the upcoming Ramstein meeting to help Ukraine win the war.
