He also added that he informed Blinken and Sullivan about the current situation on the front, key tasks facing Ukraine’s Armed Forces this year and the means necessary for their implementation.

The President pointed out that they also discussed further cooperation between Ukraine and the US in the defence sphere, particularly emphasising air defence systems and long-range weapons.

"We discussed ways to increase international investment in Ukraine, particularly in defence manufacturing, and emphasised that greater defence cooperation and co-production will increase Ukraine's self-reliance while decreasing its reliance on foreign military and financial aid," Zelenskyy summarised.

Previously: Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, held a conversation with General Charles Brown, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US.

Background:

  • Media reports said the US wants Ukraine to refine its war plan against Russia.
  • Meanwhile, the US Congress is yet to pass the promised multi-billion-dollar assistance package for Ukraine. Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba warned that "time is running out" for Congress to increase military assistance.
  • In addition, the US has conducted two rounds of talks on security guarantees for Ukraine. Bridget Brink, US Ambassador to Ukraine, said that the US seeks to sign a security agreement with Ukraine.
