Possible data leaks from Ukrainian cameras to Russia will be thoroughly checked – Ukraine's Interior Minister
Ukraine’s Interior Minister has reported that the information from surveillance cameras on Ukrainian roads could in no way be transferred to other countries, with a thorough check to be conducted into an investigation by Skhemy (Schemes), a project of investigative journalism and analytics under the Ukrainian edition of Radio Liberty. It has been revealed that thousands of cameras running on software from a Russian manufacturer have been operating in Ukraine for years.

Quote: "Our technicians at the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs clearly state that our information could not have been transferred to any server in another country.
When it comes to the cameras on our roads, they only take pictures of cars and cannot transmit any other information.
The comprehensive information protection system is quite reliable.
Another thing is that the information covered in the journalistic investigation, of course, requires careful research and study. The Ministry of Internal Affairs will also be involved in this.
We understand that a lot of the cameras were of Asian origin, which means that they could hypothetically transmit information. This is a concern not only for the intelligence services but also for the utilities that installed these cameras and are used by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Therefore, I think there is much work to be done to validate this information. We need to look at this problem again and try to find an answer.
We will soon give a joint response on further technical protection of information, including from video cameras."
Background: Schemes released an investigation showing that for years, Russia's intelligence services may have been receiving video from surveillance cameras across Ukraine that run on Russian TRASSIR software and send data to a server in Moscow.
