Over the course of 5 December, Russian forces carried out 15 attacks on areas near the Ukrainian-Russian border in Sumy Oblast; they deployed rockets and dropped four mines on those areas.

Details: A total of 94 explosions occurred in the oblast, with Yunakivka, Krasnopillia, Bilopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Seredyna-Buda, Esman and Svesa hromadas coming under Russian fire. [A hromada is an administrative unit demarcating a city, town, or village and its adjacent territory – ed.]

Two explosions occurred in Krasnopillia hromada as a result of Russian mortar attacks. Russian helicopters launched four rockets on the hromada, causing four explosions. Another three explosions occurred as a result of SPG gun attacks.

Russian forces deployed mortars to attack Velyka Pysarivka hromada, causing 40 explosions.

Russian forces dropped four mines on Seredyna-Buda hromada.

Nine explosions occurred in Esman hromada as a result of Russian mortar attacks.

Russian forces deployed mortars (causing 16 explosions) and AGS/SPG guns (causing 11 explosions), to attack Bilopillia hromada. 

Yunakivka hromada saw five explosions as a result of Russian mortar attacks.

Russian forces also deployed small arms to fire 10 rounds on Svesa hromada.
