Estonian border guards at the checkpoint in Narva have begun to inform residents of the country heading to Russia about a possible border closure.

Details: The leaflets that border guards have given to travellers claim that in recent weeks Moscow has been sending groups of foreigners to the border who have no legal right to enter the EU.

The border guards said if such actions continue, they would have to close the border points "to ensure state security and protection of public order", as Finland did earlier.

Last week, the Estonian authorities started installing additional concrete barriers at the Narva border checkpoint.

Later, Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna announced his readiness to close the border with Russia in case of "hybrid attacks".
