Fires break out as Russians attack Kharkiv with Shahed drones, targeting civilian infrastructure – photo, video
Explosions were heard in the city of Kharkiv and fires broke out in the city centre during a Shahed drone attack on the night of 30-31 December.

Quote: "A fire has broken out as a result of one of the explosions in the centre of Kharkiv, Suspilne’s correspondent reports. The Air Force had previously reported that Russian drones were approaching the city."
Details: Suspilne reported at least four other explosions in the city.
Update: Ihor Terekhov, Mayor of Kharkiv, later announced that the city was under attack from Shahed drones.
Quote: "There have already been several strikes in the city centre. All the relevant services are working. Information on casualties is being established."
Details: Local Telegram channels reported three fires starting at once in the centre of Kharkiv.
Update. Quote from Terekhov: "There have been hits on several residential buildings in the city centre. Fires have broken out. All the relevant services are already working at the scene. Information on casualties is being established."
Update. Quote from Tymoshko: "Several Russian drones were shot down over Kharkiv last night."
Details: Tymoshko said two drone hits had been recorded: one on a residential building and the other on a social infrastructure building.
As of 01:57, it is not known whether anyone is dead or injured.
Update at 3:04: Terekhov said the Russian drone attack damaged buildings in the city centre and water supply networks.
Quote: "Not even three hours have passed and Kharkiv has been attacked again, this time by Shahed UAVs. The damage caused is very serious. This is not a military facility, it’s a residential development and offices in the city centre."
Details: Chubenko said Kharkiv had recorded four hits by Russian drones on the night of 30-31 December.
Previously: The Russians struck the city of Kharkiv at least six times on the night of 29-30 December, damaging civil infrastructure and residential buildings. 26 people are known to have been injured, including two teenagers and a British journalist.
