Python rescued from a burning Russian tank near Kupiansk now has a partner
A three-metre-long python that a Ukrainian soldier rescued from a burning Russian tank during the liberation of Kupiansk (Kharkiv Oblast) now has a partner.
Dmytro Shabanov, who has a PhD in biology, adopted the python. He told Suspilne.Kharkiv that the python and his new partner will soon have offspring.
"I created artificial wintering conditions for the python [through a long-term temperature drop in the terrarium – ed.], and now I also got a female [python]. Everything points towards the possibility that the reptiles will soon have offspring," Shabanov said.
He explained that the female python is his friend’s and posted a picture of the two snakes.
Shabanov wrote in the photo caption that the female python has recessive albinism, but the offspring will likely not inherit it.
He also noted that the male python weighs about 20 kg, and the female 35 kg.
