War expenses: Ukraine reveals security and defence expenditures over 11 months of this year

Ukraine's state budget has allocated UAH 1.56 trillion (roughly US$41,55 billion) for defence in 11 months of 2023.

Details: Therefore, general budget expenditures on the security and defence sector totalled UAH 1,559.4 billion or 59.2% of the total public fund spending between January and November. In November, defence spending totalled UAH 168.2 billion (roughly US$4,47 billion).

The funds were allocated to:
- financial support for military personnel, rank and file officers, and police officers;
- procurement of military/specialised equipment, weapons, ammunition, defence products, personal protective equipment (helmets, flak jackets and other special equipment), fuel and lubricants, and food;
- medical care;
- other types of expenses to support the activities of relevant bodies and formations.
Background: The Ukrainian government covers the costs of the defence and security sector exclusively through its own tax revenues and military bonds.
