Details: Together with Budanov, Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk, Naval Forces commander Oleksii Neizhpapa and Serhii Burdeniuk, commander of the 383rd Separate Regiment of Remote-controlled aircraft of the Air Force, were arrested in absentia.

The Russians "imputed" them with more than 100 "terrorist attacks", accusing them of drone attacks on targets in Russia during Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

For reference: For Budanov, this is the second arrest in absentia in Russia. In April, a Moscow court arrested the chief of the Defence Intelligence after an explosion on the Crimean Bridge.

In the summer, Russian propaganda spread rumours for several weeks that Budanov was seriously wounded and even died. It was spread, in particular, by Illia Kyva, former Ukrainian MP, who was later found dead himself.
