Former NATO Commander calls for more aid to Ukraine on Christmas Eve, as "their cause is just"
James Stavridis, former NATO Supreme Allied Commander, has made a holiday appeal for more assistance to Ukraine. He said he was concerned about the situation and called Ukraine's case a just one.

Quote from Stavridis: "It’s a very dangerous situation and here, the real action is actually not in Kyiv. The real action is in Washington. We’ve got to provide the military support to Ukraine. Their cause is just.
We can afford to do this, and we should. So I’m worried about the war in Ukraine only if the US and our European allies fail to live up to the commitment we’ve made to support Ukraine."
Details: Stavridis said that half of the Russian army had been destroyed without a single US soldier being killed "or even placed at risk", and the country had done so by spending "the equivalent of 5 per cent" of the annual US defence budget.
Background:
- US President Joe Biden has asked for US$61 billion in aid to Ukraine, but the money is being held up as Senate Republicans say they will not approve the aid package unless more attention is paid to the US southern border first.
