Details: Skapintsev began his performances in the USA in the fall of 2022. The Ukrainian signed a contract with the Westchester Knicks, affiliated with the New York Knicks and competes in the G League (formerly known as the NBA Development League).
During his second season in the G League, the centre averaged 5.9 points in 18.6 minutes on the court for Westchester, adding 4.3 rebounds.
The bilateral contract with the New York Knicks allows Skapintsev to play for the main team in NBA matches. This type of agreement involves the basketball player combining appearances with the main club and its representative in the G League.
After his debut for the New York Knicks, 25-year-old Skapintsev will become the third active Ukrainian basketball player in the NBA. Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk and Oleksii Len have full contracts with Boston and Sacramento, respectively.
The next Knicks game in the NBA regular season is scheduled for Saturday, 23 December. On their home court, New York will host the second-ranked team in the Eastern Conference, the Milwaukee Bucks (starting at 19:30 Kyiv time).
