US$40 million embezzlement during ammunition procurement: Defence Ministry official remanded in custody
A senior official of the Defence Ministry's Main Directorate, suspected of embezzling UAH 1.5 billion (roughly US$40 million) in artillery ammunition procurement, has been remanded in custody without the right to be released on bail by the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv.

Details: The court remanded the suspect in custody with no right to be released on bail until 19 February 2024.
Background: On 22 December, reports emerged that a senior official of one of the Defence Ministry's main directorates, suspected of embezzling UAH 1.5 billion during the procurement of artillery projectiles for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, was detained in Kyiv.
