Details: The shots were heard near the villages of Gîsca and Corjova on the left bank of the Dnister as part of unauthorised exercises. Sergiu Golovaci, Head of the Moldovan delegation to the Joint Control Commission (JCC), confirmed to Zona de Securitate that the shooting had lasted about 40 minutes.

The JCC is a joint military command structure of Moldova, Transnistria and Russia that operates in the demilitarised zone on the border between Moldova and Ukraine.

The Reintegration Bureau told Newsmaker that they would raise the issue of what happened at the next JCC meeting.

"We will raise this issue at a meeting of the JCC, during which the Moldovan delegation will reaffirm its unwavering position on the inadmissibility of unilateral military actions along the perimeter of the Security Zone, which could destabilise the situation in the region and cause panic among the population," they said.
