If Putin wins in Ukraine, the European project will suffer significant damage – Josep Borrell
On Wednesday, Josep Borrell, EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, once again drew attention to the threat that Russia's victory in the full-scale war against Ukraine would present for the European Union.

In his speech, the EU’s top diplomat warned that Moscow's war in Ukraine threatens European democracy, not just Kyiv.
"If we don't change course soon and mobilise all our capabilities, if we allow Putin to win the war in Ukraine and fail to stop the tragedy in Gaza, our project will suffer significant damage," Josep Borrell said.
According to Borrell, the question is not whether Russia will be able to defeat Ukraine on the battlefield soon, but what Europe is doing "to prevent Russia from winning the war".
He questioned whether EU member states are ready to take all measures in this regard and provide all the support that Kyiv needs to counter Russia's full-scale war.
Borrell's statement comes at a time when the United States has blocked the allocation of additional aid to Ukraine due to disputes in Congress and the EU has postponed its decision to allocate €50 billion for long-term support for Kyiv until February due to Hungary’s blocking of the decision.
Admiral Michel Hofman, Chief of the General Staff of the Belgian Army, suggested yesterday that European states need to take the Russian threat seriously and be prepared for the fact that Russia may attack its other neighbours in the future.
