All Russian drones downed on approach to Kyiv

Air defence systems hit all Russian drones approaching the city of Kyiv on the evening of 19 December.

Details: Early reports indicate that there were no casualties or destruction in the capital.

Shahed UAVs entered Kyiv from the south, from the waters of the Black Sea, flying over Odesa, Kirovohrad and Cherkasy oblasts.

This was the fifth air attack on Kyiv in December and the second in a row using drones.

Background:

• On the evening of 19 December, Kyiv City Military Administration reported that air defence was responding in the suburbs of Kyiv. 
• The Russian forces launched attack UAVs into Ukrainian territory during the evening.
