UK Defence Intelligence has said that fighters from the so-called Storm Z, penal units of the Russian military, are likely to return to combat missions with unhealed wounds, or even after amputations.

Quote: "This follows credible reports that members of Shtorm-Z, Donetsk militias, and Wagner Group have frequently received minimal or no treatment."
Details: UK Defence Intelligence officers pointed out that conscripts from among convicts, who make up a significant part of Storm Z units, are subject to poor treatment, and one of the reasons for this is that prisoners often do not have the documents necessary to access military hospitals.
As the review concludes, the lack of relevant medical care will result in the administrative and medical burden falling back on the shoulders of the military units themselves.
Background:
- Earlier, UK intelligence described how Russia is going to hold "presidential elections" in the occupied territories of Ukraine on 15-17 March 2024.
- Prior to that, UK Defence Intelligence called the cyberattack on Ukrainian mobile operator Kyivstar one of the most destructive operations of such kind since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion.
- UK Defence Intelligence also stated that despite the Russians’ gradual advances on the Marinka front, it considers it extremely unlikely that Russia will make a significant breakthrough towards Kurakhove.
