Zelenskyy to give big press conference

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy will hold a major press conference on Tuesday, 19 December.

The media will be able to get one correspondent, one cameraman and one photographer accredited to Zelenskyy's press conference by 16:00 on Monday, 18 December.
Background:
- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy gave a big conference on 24 February 2023, on the first anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. There he expressed hope that in a year, there will be no more war in Ukraine.
- On 21 December 2022 Zelenskyy personally visited the US for the first time since the beginning of the full-scale invasion and talked to his American counterpart Joe Biden who supported Kyiv’s pursuit of peace.
- On 11-12 December 2023, Zelenskyy visited the US again and met with Biden who assured him that he wanted Ukraine to win the war Russia had started.
- Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed at the final press conference on 14 December 2023 that the war against Ukraine would end when Russia achieves all its goals, namely "denazification", demilitarisation and neutral status of Ukraine.
- In 2022, after Ukrainian troops liberated almost all occupied territories in Kharkiv Oblast and the city of Kherson, Putin did not hold a final conference.
