MEP on Orbán's démarche: He's more than happy to be in room with Putin, not EU leaders
Guy Verhofstadt, a member of the European Parliament from Belgium and the country’s former Prime Minister, has said that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán preferred Russia over freedom.

Background: Previously, it was reported that the leaders of the European Union at the summit in Brussels approved the recommendation of the European Commission to open accession talks with Ukraine and Moldova.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán confirmed that he abstained from voting for the start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union and did not change his attitude towards this.
He deliberately left the meeting during the voting on a decision on Ukraine.
