After that, the city will begin its examination.

Quote from Klitschko: "If the load-bearing structures of the building are intact, we will promptly restore the housing so that residents can return to their homes as soon as possible.

If the damage to the structures is critical, we will consider the option of capital reconstruction of the house. Kindergartens will also have to be rebuilt.

During the restoration, the city authorities will provide temporary housing to the affected residents. The rescue service at the site also provides a heating station."

Details: In addition, the wreckage of another missile fell on the territory of one of the city hospitals in Dniprovskyi district. The building of the morgue was damaged, and the main building of the medical institution sustained minor damage.

In total, 53 people were injured during the night attack. 20 of them were taken to hospital, including 2 children. 33 people received medical help on the spot, including 6 children.

Serhii Popko, Head of Kyiv City Military Administration, reported that the residents of the high-rise residential building in Kyiv’s Dniprovskyi district, which suffered the most damage in the overnight missile attack on Ukraine’s capital, will be temporarily sheltered in an invincibility centre [a warm-up point with Internet access, tea and coffee; thousands of such points were established all over Ukraine-controlled territory] on the territory of school No 98 located nearby.

All those affected will be provided with a place to warm up, hot drinks, Internet connection, communication and first aid in the centre.

The children at this school will most likely be transferred to studying online.

Background:

  • Russia resumed its attacks on Kyiv, using ballistic missiles launched from ground-based launchers, making the launches harder to detect. Twice in the last three days, air-raid warnings were issued after Kyiv residents heard explosions from air defence response.
  • On the night of 10-11 December, air defence network destroyed all eight ballistic missiles that were targetting Kyiv. As a result of the downing of Russian missiles in the capital, its pieces fell in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, where four people were injurred and windows were smashed. There was also damage at two addresses.
  • On the night of 12-13 December, the defenders shot down all 10 ballistic missiles over Kyiv, but missile pieces fell in several districts. As a result, 53 people were injured, including 6 children, and 18 adults and 2 children were hospitalised.
