After about 200 Ukrainian drivers went on a hunger strike, Vasyl Yordan, Consul of the Ukrainian Consulate General in Lublin, visited them and invited two of the drivers to meet with the Polish protesters.
As of 16:00, the protesters and the drivers have agreed that seven vehicles per hour will be allowed to pass through the checkpoint, and humanitarian and military cargo will take priority, Suspilne reports.
The Ukrainian drivers then decided to call off their hunger strike, but they are prepared to resume it if the Polish side breaches the agreements before Sunday, 3 December.
At the same time, representatives of the infrastructure departments of Ukraine and Poland met in Warsaw to discuss measures to lift the border blockade by Polish hauliers. They have already agreed on several conditions.
Background: The Polish hauliers began a protest on 6 November, demanding that the EU, among other things, reinstate the permit system for Ukrainian drivers entering the EU.
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported earlier that as of Friday morning, about 2,100 trucks were queuing to enter Ukraine at the Ukrainian-Polish border.
