Ukraine expects Congress to adopt law on seizing Russian oligarchs' assets as soon as possible

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal hopes for the quick adoption of the law on the seizure of assets for the benefit of the restoration of Ukraine, which was recently registered in the US Congress.

Quote: "The Asset Seizure for Ukraine Reconstruction Act has been submitted to the American Congress. Its co-authors include both Democrats and Republicans," Shmyhal noted.

He said that the law will allow the US Department of Justice to confiscate the assets of sanctioned Russian oligarchs quickly. Income from these assets will be transferred to the sustainability and recovery of Ukraine.

The Prime Minister added that he hoped for the speedy adoption of this initiative.

"We are working to ensure that all Russian money frozen in the West, including sovereign assets, is confiscated for the benefit of Ukraine," Shmyhal concluded.
