Putin's daughter's foundation buys share in Russia's largest UAV manufacturer

The National Intellectual Development Foundation (NIDF), better known as Innopraktika, which is headed by Russian President Vladimir Putin’s daughter Katerina Tikhonova, has become a co-owner of the largest Russian UAV manufacturer.

Details: The Moscow Time reported that the NIDF bought a 10% stake in the Geoscan group of companies, which manufactures civil aircraft drones and software for photogrammetric data processing.

As of now, Alexey Semyonov, Head of Geoscan, owns 87.5% of the company, another 2.5% is controlled by the Geoscan CEO Alexey Yuretsky.

For reference: Ukraine imposed sanctions against Geoscan in early July 2023 due to the statement of Andrey Nazarov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Bashkortostan, that drones for the war in Ukraine will be created at the Geoscan-Ufa facilities.

Geoscan-Ufa was part of the Geoscan group of companies until July 2022, but Semenov sold 40% of the company to Vener Mirzayanov, CEO of Ural-Trading, who owned the remaining 60%.

The Ural-Trading company belongs to the unknown 67-year-old Khalid Zaripov. The company is engaged in numerous activities, from real estate appraisal to beer and meat trade, however drone production is not listed in its profile.

Background:

• Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin called for increased drone production. At that time, he was talking about the small-sized kamikaze drones Kub and Lancet, which are produced by businesses that are part of the Rostec company.
