UK Defence Secretary Grant Shapps has reacted to UK intelligence’s report that the losses of Russian occupation forces in the past six weeks are the highest since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

Details: Shapps said Russian President Vladimir Putin is intensifying the Russian invasion of Ukraine, senselessly sending more Russian soldiers to their deaths than at any time since the beginning of the full-scale war.

Quote: "Ukrainian bravery and western support is holding back their advance, but we cannot be complacent."

The UK Defence secretary also emphasised that Ukraine needs the unwavering support of the West in order to fight and win the war.

Background: Earlier, UK Defence Intelligence reported that these Russian losses are the result of their offensive operations on Avdiivka, Donetsk Oblast.

Previously, UK Defence Intelligence reported that Russia had moved strategic air defence assets from Kaliningrad Oblast in November to replace those lost in the war against Ukraine.

The analysts also suggested that the logistical challenges of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in the port city of Novorossiysk were affecting Russia's ability to launch cruise missiles on Ukraine.
